Hope Is The Thing

Hope' is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—

And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—

I've heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me

Emily Dickinson

I just worked a whole three days in a row. I haven’t done that in a year and a half. I will blog properly tomorrow. But I made it.

After work and before my therapy appointment I got and iced-coffee with REAL cream. I visited the Serenity Garden, which is a peaceful little place, on the grounds of a former orphanage. There is a man-made creek that flows (electrically) through the park and little bronze statues of children in acts of play or chores. Beautiful flowers and little-curved bridges. I was looking for a shady spot to smoke a cigarette. I looked at the clear flowing water—and thought my feet need to be in there. So I sat on the bridge with my iced-coffee and cigarette. I took off my cowboy boots and socks, plopping my feet in clear not-so-cool (it’s hot here!) water.

I just enjoyed the moment. All of the suffering the badness, if it led me to this moment, then…

I was, GET READY FOR IT, happy to be alive.

I just let my mind roam. My epiphany: no relationship—work, political, casual, personal, familial—can be good if that relationship is founded on lies.  And, the water just went around my toes, which were a new obstacle. The water didn’t freak out and stop. It just flowed on over my feet.

Thank you, Saint Therese. I have been seeing feathers in my journey around the Holy City. Thanks for that.

Smoke ‘em if ya’ got ‘em. God Bless

PS: How are ECT (shock therapy) and the Common Core similar?

No one who has ever gotten ECT or taught Common Core ever said they liked it, that it was good, helpful, curative…even though the government said it was all good! Think on that. The result is kinda the same too.
